You can see here the Donaupark, at your left the Donauturm (an observation tower) and at your right the "Donau-City" --One of the newest development areas in Vienna.
From 1945 to 1989, Vienna was the eastern limit of free Europe, the Iron Curtain was closed only 60 km North and East from Vienna. In 1955 all foreign troops retreat from Austria, and the full sovereignty is established. Since the fall of the Iron Curtain Vienna has recovered its roll as a main capital in Central Europe. Finally in 1995 Austria joined the European Union --which means that you won’t need a passport if coming from another European Union country. Great news, isn’t it?
