Blanes is also famous for its botanical gardens. The biggest of them is called Marimurtra. It is is located on he road to 'Cala Sant Francesc'. There is a minitrain that does the trip from the town center to the garden.
The Marimurtra garden was initiated by Carles Faust in 1928. He found out that the climate of Blanes was almost perfect for the tropical trees and plants he had seen in many European botanical gardens. Species from the Mediterranean, South Africa, California and Mexico can be seen in this unique garden.
On the way to Lloret there is another nice botannical garden, 'Pinya Rosa'.
