We have quoted major museums on earlier pages, but Amsterdam houses many more! The Hermitage Museum (see photo), a dependency of the Hermitage in Saint Petersburg, located near the Amstel displays temporary exhibitions until it reopens in June 2009. The Museum Van Loon on the Keizersgracht is a double-sized canal house dating from 1672. The Museum Willet-Holthuysen exhibits a collection of furniture, silverware and paintings housed in a beautiful preserved 17th century canal side mansion. Located near the Oosterpark, the Tropenmuseum is one of the leading ethnographic museums in Europe, the permanent and temporary exhibitions display objects, photographs, music and film from non-western cultures. And FOAM is a leading museum of photography situated on the Keizersgracht. And as you wander around, you might find out there’s still more to discover!
