In the dry season, when water becomes scarce, the waterfall is reduced to a mere trickle. To remedy this situation, water is collected in a basin, and let loose once or twice per day, to show the falls in their full glory. When this happens, the water literally thunders down and the whole valley fills with spray, where the sunlight draws colourful but evanescent rainbows.
