By tram or by foot Divan Yolu is a boulevard you cannot miss. It passes Sultanahmet Square, the Hippodrome, the tombs of sultans, the Grand Bazaar in Beyazit Square, leading to Istanbul University.
The name Divan Yolu comes from the Ottoman times meaning the "Road to the Imperial Council" but its history is much older. It dates from the times of Constantine the Great, 300 AD when it was built as an imperial road from Constantinople to Rome. Our tram stop will be at Sultanahmet Square.
