From Odeonplatz starts one of the city's main boulevards, Ludwigsstrasse, which runs from the Old Town to the Siegestor (or Triumphal Arch). The avenue is named after Ludwig I of Bavaria, who commissioned its construction.
Along Ludwigstrasse you will find a series of buildings that house the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, the Bavarian State Library and many state ministries. In the picture you can see a monument dedicated to the Bavarian King.
