The National Theatre of Munich, or Nationaltheater, is the home of the Bayerische Staatsoper and the Bayerische Staatsballet. If you want to attend an opera show, this is the place to go.
The first building of the Nationaltheater was built at the beginning of the 19th century in Neo-classical style. It was burned down in 1823, and rebuilt in 1825. During the World War II it was destroyed again. It was reopened in the 1960's. In 1988 it was renovated one more time.
