The Guggenheim Museum opened its doors in 1997. Many people criticized the huge amount of public funds invested in this building, but soon after its inauguration, the museum became the symbol of the new Bilbao. Nowadays it's one of the most visited museums in Spain. Many foreign visitors come from distant countries just to visit the building. I am sure they don’t go back home disappointed.
