Osaka makes a good stopover on the way from Tokyo to Kyoto. The city's major tourist sights can be visited in a couple of days.
The city of Osaka has a good range of places to stay. If you are looking for cheap accommodation, you can try a Capsule Hotel. Capsule Hotels offer the cheapest (and smallest) rooms in Japan. They are found in the train station areas. In Shin-Imamiya and Dobutsuen-mae Stations you will also find hotels that offer proper rooms at low rates.
If you are looking for mid-range hotels, you can go to one of the business hotels. They offer spartan and clean rooms, most of them with free internet access. You can also opt for a Ryokan, or traditional Japanese hotel.
Osaka has some top-range hotels. Some of the best hotels in Osaka are the Hyatt Regency (WTC area), the Imperial Hotel and the The Ritz-Carlton (Osaka Station area).
When looking for a hotel, choose one that is close to one of the subway stations.
