One of the things to do in Kochi is to attend a Kathakali show. This mix of dance and theater, original of Kerala, is one of the oldest theater performances in the world.
The show starts with the make up of the actors, which lasts more than one hour, and continues with an actor performing different actions, and explaining their meaning to the audience. The show itself lasts more than an hour. To better understand the action, leaflets with the translation of the script are given to the visitors.
There are two or three Kathakali centers in Kochi. Ask your hotel or a local travel agency for directions.
