This city has
prehistoric origins. It is not clear when Romans occupied
this city. We only know that the first Roman ruins date
from the first century. During that time Verona was an
important colony: the Verona Augusta Colony. The city
still preserves the Roman reticular design. Verona is the
city with more and better preserved Roman Ruins (the
Arena, the bridge, the city doors, etc) after Rome, of
course. Three of the most important Roman roads converged
in Verona: the Augusta, the Galica and the
Postumia.
