The Columbus Expedition was a very profitable business for the Spanish Crown --Spaniards couldn’t ever find the "El Dorado", but they found many gold and silver mines. The price for the native Americans was very high, almost all local cultures were destroyed and millions of indigenous died because of the diseases the European brought to their continent, many other locals were killed in the battle fields.
