Wine has made Porto famous worldwide. The story of the Douro Valley wine is rather strange. This region's wine used to be of a very low quality. English dealers decided to add brandy to the wine to prevent it from soaring. This had an unexpected effect: the current high quality Porto wine --one of the best wines in Europe!
