2/25.- Montserrat, Aeri cable car

The Sanctuary of our Lady of Montserrat and the Benedictine monastery sit at 720 meters. This monastery has served pilgrims and visitors since 1025. In the basilica the image of the patron saint of Catalonia, Montserrat, is venerated.

To get to Montserrat you can go by car, bus or train. If you want to take the train from Barcelona you have to go to "Plaça Espanya" train station and take one of the "Ferrocarils de Catalunya" to Montserrat. You have to drop off at the "Montserrat Aeri" train station, where you take the Cable car you see in the photo to get to the monastery. Trains leave from Barcelona each hour from 8:36 AM through 17:36 PM. The combined round trip ticket costs less than 12 euro.
