4/33.- Lisbon, Rossio

Rossio is also known as Praça dom Pedro IV, and it’s the Lisbon’s main square.

The most important building you’ll find in Rossio is the National Theater (the main building in the picture). At its right sits the former site of the Palace of the Inquisition.

An earthquake in 1755 almost completely destroyed this district. After the quake the neighborhood was reconstructed following a regular grid.
