24/45.- Camargue: Saintes Maries de la Mer

Saintes Maries de la Mer is a centre of bull-breeding and bull-fighting, but also the goal of the gypsies' annual pilgrimage, a fact that much affects the local atmosphere and folklore.  The church was built into the city's fortifications, which gives it a look both military and religious.
