2/45.- Provence: Lavender

The charming thing about Provence is that it lives up to quite a few of the tourist's expectations, shaped by stereotyped representations.  One of these is the lavender fields; another is the song of the cicadas; yet another the singsong accent of the native inhabitants -- even outside the tourist season, there are many non-natives around, as the sunny region keeps attracting people, and notably  retired pensioners, from the colder northern regions.
