17/43.- Florence, Porta Romana

The city of Firenze (Florence) was founded by the Romans, one century before our era. After the decadence caused by the barbarian invasion of Italy, Florence recovered its splendor in the Carolingian times. Its maximum splendor begins in the 11th century, and arrives at its summit during the 15th century, with the Medici domination.
