14/43.- Florence, view of Ponte Vecchio
The 'Ponte Vechio' (old bridge) is, of course, the oldest bridge
in town. The first 'Ponte Vecchio' was a wooden bridge. But the river
destroyed it in 1333. It was reconstructed in 1345.
On the bridge you can find the same shops that have always been
here --well, the shops are the same, but first they sold fruits and
vegetables to locals, and now they sell silver and gold jewelry to
tourists.
