Dear visitor, welcome to our Czech Republic web pages. The Czech Republic is a country in the Center of Europe, bordering with Germany, Slovakia, Austria and Poland.

When to Go/Climate: the best time to visit the Czech Republic is late spring (May to June), and early fall (september to October). Winters are cold and cloudy, and summers are cool.

Get in: The major entry airport to the Czech Republic is Ruzyne Airport, located about 10km west from the center of Prague. Other entry cities are Brno, Ostrava, and Karlovy Vary. Other nearby airports are Munich and Vienna. The Czech Republic has also good connections by train with Austria, Germany, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and Switzerland.

Get around: The best way to move around this rather small country is by train and bus.

Money and Costs: The official currency is the Czech Crown (CZK). Foreign currencies should be exchanged at banks. Credit cards are widely accepted. Tipping is optional, but a 10% service charge is expected. The country is still cheaper than its neighboring Western European countries.

Length of stay: in order to visit Prague you need three or four days. Add a day or two for each additional destination.

Languages/People: The official language is Czech. Most Czechs speak also German, Slovak and English.

Food: Czech food is heavy and fatty.

Safety: the Czech Republic is a safe country.
