The Pen Hat beach, west of Camaret, is a quiet place protected by dunes and the Toulinguet cliffs, which are a military domain with a typical Breton lighthouse. At very low tide, it is possible to view the cave where once, a hermit is reported to have had his refuge. The beach is not for swimming -- the currents are too dangerous and too strong. Just above the Toulinguet peninsula (attached to camaret by a narrow isthmus) there are still ruins of German fortifications and bunkers, including an elaborate cannon site.
