SNP and Lazaretská Street
Slovakia was
integrated in the newly formed Czechoslovak Republic
after the first World War, after the disintegration of
the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The Slovak Nationalist
movement was founded in the 19th century, Ludovit Stur,
the codifier of Stantard Slovak played a key role in the
movement for Slovak National Freedom. The current name of
Bratislava was introduced in 1919.
