The region of Bordeaux is divided in seven sub-regions. The one closer to the Atlantic sea is called 'Region du Medoc' and produces red wines. Closer to Bordeaux city, on the same river bank sits the 'Region des Graves et Pessac-Leognan', which produces sweet white wines, dry white wines and red wines. Next to this area is the 'Region des vins blanc doux', this small region only produces sweet white wines. Between the Garonne river and the Dordogne river sits the 'Region de l'Entre-Deux-Mers' (between to seas), the biggest region which produces red, rose, dry white and sweet white variations. On the other side of the Dordogne river sits the 'Region Saint-Emilion, Pomerol, Fronsac', which produces red wines. 10 km down the river sits the 'Region du Blayais-Bourgeais', with its red and dry white wines.
