Ginkaku-ji Temple is the northern end of the Philosopher's Walk. The Philosopher's path runs from Nanzen-ji to Ginkaku-ji in easterm Kyoto alongside a canal. The walk will take you between two and three hours. On the way you can not only visit the two mentioned temples, but many other smaller ones too.
The Philosopher's Way was named after Nishida Kitaro, a philosopher who used to walk along the path while meditating. The Path is one of the best places in Kyoto for cherry blossom viewing (hanami) in April.
