24/50.- Kyoto, Yasaka Shrine

In this picture you can see the building that houses the sponsored lanterns in the Yasaka Shrine.

Yaska is a Shinto Shrine, dedicated to the Shinto deities Susa-no-o, his wife Inadahime-no-Mikoto, and their eight mythological children. Susa-no-o is the Shinto god of medicine.

Yasaka Shrine is very popular among grandmothers in November, when they bring their children for the Shichi-go-san festival.
