11/50.- Kyoto, Sanjusangendo Temple

Sanjusangendo is another of the main attractions in central Kyoto. You can get here on foot from Kyoto Train Station.

The Sanjusangendo Temple was founded in the 12th century. This building is the longest construction made of wood in Japan. Its current structure is from the 13th century.

In the picture you can see the fortune telling paper slips, known as Omikuji. They have predictions of good luck, in order to attract it, or bad luck, in order to avert it.
