3/50.- Kyoto, To-ji Temple

The best way of getting to Kyoto is by Shinkansen from Tokyo. From the capital of Japan, the ride on the bullet train takes around two and a half hours.

Kyoto has no airport, the nearest city with an airport is Osaka. From Osaka airport it takes an hour to get to JR Kyoto Train Station (in the center of Kyoto) by train or bus.

You can also get to Kyoto by bus from Tokyo, and from many other cities in Japan.

In the picture you can see one of the buildings of the To-ji Temple (East Temple). The Lecture Hall in this temple houses the oldest Esoteric Buddhist statues in Japan.
