6/23.- Zhouzhuang, street canals

The origins of the city date back to the Spring and Autumn Period (770 BC-476 BC). In the 11th century its name was changed to the present Zhouzhuang after the name of Zhou Digong, a rich merchant who had donated the money to build a Buddhist temple.
