Xian, Small Wild Goose Pagoda
The Small Goose Pagoda, Xiao Yan Ta, is a
13-storey
tower from the 7th century AD. It is next to the Jianfu
Temple, built in 684 by Empress Gao Zong of the Tang Dynasty.
In one of the courtyards of the Small Wild
Goose Pagoda you find the stakes you see in the picture. They
have an animal on the top, each of them is linked to a local
folk tale. Their main purpose was to tie
horses to. In the Forest
of Stones Museum you will find more of these stakes.
In another courtyard you find a big bell,
which you can ring for a few RMBs -- Click on the picture to
see the video.
Not far from the Small Wild Goose Pagoda is
the Shanxii History Museum.
