21/35.- Tibetan Sichuan, praying mantra

In this picture you can see a praying mantra on a mountainside written in Tibetan. 95% of the population in this area are Tibetan. Most of them are Buddhist. On the following page we will visit our first monastery in the area.

Because of the altitude this region has an extreme climate. The best season to visit is summer, when it is warmer. But note that during this season, heavy showers are common. After the rain, dusty roads become muddy, and are only accessible by 4-wheel drive cars.
