9/35.- Shangri-La, Ganden Sumtseling Monastery, gilded roof

In the picture you can see a detail of the roof of the monastery.

On November 29 the Gedong Festival takes place here, when Buddhist followers from the region come here to pray. During the Gedong Festival mask dances take place too.

Most monks enter the monastery at the age of 5. During their training they learn the Tibetan language, sutra chanting, Buddhist prayers, astrology and medicine. Unfortunately, I could not find any monk who spoke English. But if you are traveling with a tourist guide, he can translate your questions.
