39/41.- Lijiang, Baisha, Naxi music

Another interesting trip from Lijiang is the area where the Mo Suo people live. You will need at least two days (three are recommended). Mo Suo people are famous for their matriarchal customs. Women live all their lives in their own house, and men live with their parents. When a woman wants to have a child, she chooses a man in the village and invites him to spend the night with her. If a child is born, he or she lives with his or her mother and nobody knows who the father is. Although nowadays this tradition is still alive, it is being spoiled by Han Chinese looking for a cheap one-night stand.
