Other longer excursions from Lijiang are Zhongdian, four hours from the old town, where it is recommended spending one night; and Lugu Lake, five hours northeast of Lijiang, perfect for a two-day trip.

Lesser popular tourist destinations in the area are the Wenbifeng Temple, with the Paintbrush Lake; and the Yak Meadow, with its nice grassland.
