Hong Kong, Star Ferry
Now let's leave Hong Kong Island, and head north, across Victoria Harbor, to the Kowloon
Peninsula. For more than a hundred years, the most popular way to make this crossing has been
the Star Ferry, a Hong Kong icon. These green-and-white ferries (most of which were built in
the 1960s) make something like 400 crossings a day, carrying approximately 70,000 passengers.
The ride only takes about seven minutes and provides terrific views of the waterfronts of Central
and Kowloon.
