6/26.- Hangzhou, West Lake, Zigzag Bridge
In the lake there are two more islets you should
not miss, the Mid Lake Pavilion and the Lord's Ruan Mound.
The Mid Lake Pavilion was the first of the
islets built. On the islet there is a pavilion with a stone
arch with an inscription in Chinese that reads "endless
Romance". It was written by Emperor Qianlong (Qing Dynasty)
himself.
The Lord's Ruan Mound is the smallest of the
three islands. It was built at the beginning of the 19th century,
with the mud collected after Governor Ruan Yuan ordered the
dredging of the lake.
On this islet entertaining activities take place in Summer.
West of the West Lake is Lingyin Temple.
