43/46.- Beijing, the Great Wall

Simatai is another area of the Wall that tourists visit. This one is more authentic. Not many agencies offer tours to this part of the wall. The easiest way to get here is by taxi. In Simatai you will not find annoying vendors, you will see what remains of the wall today, and you will not find hordes of tourists. This part is only recommended for fit tourists.

Mutianyu is another part of the wall open to visitors. This part offers great views of the surrounding forests, especially in Summer. You can either walk up to the Wall or take the cable car. Jin Shan Ling is a section that only some foreigners will enjoy, because it was never rebuilt.

Most of the tours that visit the Badaling section also visit the Ming Tombs.
