We are getting closer to the summit. But first let me tell you something about one of the negative effects of the growing interest in this region. Trekkers have brought a better life for the inhabitants of this region, but it has also brought a typical product of our western economies: the garbage. There are a few measures to reduce the amount of waste. The first one is to reduce the use of non biodegradable packaging: instead of bottled water it’s recommended to treat water with iodine. The second is to take with us all the garbage that we produce. And the third one is not to use toilet paper (one third of the world uses water instead, and it works!).

But let’s take a look at the bright side of life ...
