13/23.- Vancouver Island, the town of Chemainus

A drive north out of Victoria and up along Vancouver Island's scenic coast will lead you to the turn off for the quaint village of Chemainus, population 4 000. This drive is about 80 kilometres and the trip is worth it if you love mural art. The town faced the loss of its primary lumber industry and ruin but re-invented itself to focus on tourism in a most novel fashion.
