14/33.- Grand Canyon, Hopi Point

In the picture you can see visitors looking at the Grand Canyon from one of the observation points in the Hermits rest Route.

One of the things that most surprised me was not how long or deep the canyon was, but how wide. The reason why the Canyon is so wide is the collapsing of the superior layers of rocks once the lower, and softer, layers were eroded. The cliffs collapsed, and the river brought these materials to the Gulf of California.
