4/49.- Pittsburgh, Cathedral of
Learning, University of Pittsburgh
The normally harsh-looking tall tower of the University of Pittsburgh
appears softer through the trees. In its religious quest for education,
the Cathedral epitomizes the lofty desires of the erudite who blister
their bulging eyes with visions of publish or perish. It lies across
the road from the Carnegie Museum and Library complex. Inside the
Cathedral of Learning you can take a tour of the Nationality Rooms.
These are classrooms designed and decorated in the theme of various
countries. There is also the Stephen Foster Theater where you can
attend student productions. In addition, you might just possibly catch
a glimpse of a bridal party at the Heinz Chapel, a favorite spot for
weddings.
