44/50.- New York, the Metropolitan Museum

The Museum of Art opened its doors in 1870. Ten years later, it moved to its current location on Fifth Avenue at Central Park. This must-see museum has one of the vastest ancient art collections in the world. Old Egypt, Mesopotamia, Greece, Europe ... has more than two million items are stored here. There are also some modern art works donated by philanthropists. There is also an Asian art section. With the Museum entry ticket you get access to the Cloisters too.

The other museum that you should not skip, especially if you like modern art, is the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). It opened its doors in 1929 and it features works of art from the 1880s to the present. Among its 100,000 pieces is the famous “Marylyn” by Andy Warhol. The MoMA also has photography, drawings, sculpture and architectural sections.
