New York may never sleep, but most of its citizens do sleep at night. And work from 8am to 5pm! This is pretty visible on an afternoon stroll. As soon as it is five o'clock, avenues are flooded with diligent workers leaving their offices. For this reason, try avoiding public transportation during rush hours.
Another thing that caught my attention is that in the economic capital of America (and of the world), not many locals have a car of their own. Most of the cars one sees in New York's streets are cabs driven by taxi drivers of the most diverse ethnic origin. It’s too expensive to store cars in parking garages. Many wealthier people have houses in the surrounding areas where they keep their cars.
And now let's go to Times Square.
