New York, Brooklyn Bridge

Menu

The Brooklyn Bridge is another famous sight in New York. It is shown on TV every year throughout the world when the New York Marathon Runners pass over it.

The bridge was the largest suspension bridge in the world and the first to be constructed with steel back in 1883. It was designed by John Roebling, who was one of the 20 people who died while working on its construction. His son, Washington Roebling, continued his work. But he also suffered an accident and was incapacitated. Finally it was Roebling's wife who completed the supervision of the work.
