28/39.-Chiapas, San Juan Chamula, the church

Foreign visitors can access the church, but taking photographs is strictly forbidden. Once inside the church you have to keep quiet.

One of the things that called my attention is that Mayans use Coca Cola as a sacred beverage in their rituals. One of the uses of Coca Cola is to eructate, which locals see as a way of liberating evil spirits from their bodies. A liquor made from sugarcane and pineapple called pox is also considered sacred.
