3/31.- Las Vegas, The Mirage from the Venetian

Menu

Stand and gaze and the beautiful scene before you where no expense is spared. Best of all, the view is free. After casino gambling became legalized in Atlantic City, New Jersey, mega resorts sprung up in Las Vegas in response. With all this abundance and excess of luxurious decadence it is indeed hard to imagine the life of the Mexican scout, Rafael Rivera who, in 1829, left his party to explore the Mojave desert. Fortunately for him, however, he came across what would later be called the Las Vegas Springs. Later, in 1855, the Mormons from Salt Lake City came along and settled down. They planted themselves some fine fruit trees and vegetables. With the arrival of the railroad in 1905 Las Vegas was on the way to become an important destination.
