Savannah, Georgia Queen
Since youre out and about and off the island keep on driving
and go south on I 95 to Savannah. Its worth the approximately
45 minute drive. Such a happy-looking vessel
is the Georgia Queen which will take you a cruise along the Savannah
River. All along the waterfront are restaurants and shops, even pubs.
Savannah was founded by General James Oglethorpe in 1733. He and his
chum, Colonel William Bull came up with the impressive town plan of
having commercial and residential buildings centered on a public square.
Thus, in Savannah youll find umpteen Squares such as, surprise
surprise, Oglethorpe Square amongst numerous others. The Visitors
Center is a great place to start from. Lots of maps and useful information
here.
