4/37.- Antigua Guatemala, Parque Central, Cathedral of San Jose

The town of Antigua follows a regular pattern, with avenues crossing the city from North to South, and streets from West to East. In the middle of it all is the Parque Central, which will be the starting (and finishing) point of our virtual visit.

Parque Central is surrounded by magnificent buildings, among them the Cathedral San Jose (in the picture), the Town Hall, and the Building of the Capitanes Generales. The square is also a meeting place, where locals come to stroll, tourists to take pictures, and vendors from the nearby villages to sell souvenirs to them.
