31/46.- Salvador da Bahia, Terreiro de Jesus

The state of Bahia was one of the last to join the independent confederation of Brazil. Bahia gained its independence in 1823. Salvador underwent a crisis period that lasted 150 years. Since the 1990's big efforts have been made in order to give back the old town its lost splendor. Tourists from all over the world come nowadays to visit this unique city. Salvador da Bahia is, for me, one of the nicest cities in the world, and should not be missed.
