Weather changes very quickly in Salvador. Sun, clouds, and rain come and go unexpectedly. If you get caught by a shower, the best thing is to visit a souvenir shop, and wait for the rain to stop (usually less than 10 minutes).
Temperatures are high all year round. But even in summer the heat is bearable. It is recommendable booking a room with air conditioning, though.
