Flamengo Beach is a good place to go, especially if you are staying in a hotel in the downtown area (Centro). The beach itself is not one of the best in Rio, but the views of the bay and the Sugar Loaf mountain from here are spectacular. Ipanema and Copacabana Beaches are better places to enjoy the local atmosphere.
